Town of Ulysses Democratic Committee

Our Mission

The Ulysses Democratic Committee (UDC) meets regularly to identify and support strong Democratic candidates for local office and keep the community informed about issues and elections.

UDC Meetings

Committee meetings are held monthly at 7:00pm on the first Thursday of each month. Due to the pandemic, we are now meeting remotely or depending on weather, in an outdoor location (see site Calendar for details). Please contact UDC Chair (cynthiam.udc@gmail.com) if you would like to attend.

Trumansburg Democratic Caucus

The Town of Ulysses Democratic Committee held a nominating caucus on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Trumansburg Fire Hall, 74 W. Main St., Trumansburg.

The purpose of the caucus was to nominate a Democratic candidate for Village of Trumansburg Trustee (one-year term) to run in the March 21, 2023, election. Marcia Horn was nominated and accepted to run on the Democratic ticket for the Trustee position she currently occupies.

Ulysses Democratic Candidate Selection Process Changed

Ulysses Democratic Committee (UDC) voted at it's November 3rd meeting to change the way candidates for town offices are selected from a caucus system to petition-and-primary.

The petition-and-primary system, is used for all federal, state and county positions and many other towns. Potential candidates need to collect signatures on a petition from Ulysses Democrats. Currently, the number of required signatures is approximately 100. If more people submit petitions than there are vacancies, those people would face off in a primary election.
