Chair’s Election Message: Let’s Unite!

Submitted by Linda Hoffman, Chair, TCDC

Hello Members,

Leading up to this election this fall we witnessed two primary elections, three candidate forums to introduce the candidates and conducted two fundraisers. Our election districts have shifted since the last election.  Tompkins County is now situated in Congressional District 19 and NYS Senate 52nd district. We have opened a TCDC Headquarters at 832 Hanshaw Road and a Campaign Hub at Press Bay Alley at 118 West Green St. Suite 7, near the Commons, both in Ithaca.

As we approach late-October, we acknowledge that the upcoming midterm elections are paramount.  We as the Democratic Party must join forces and speak with one voice. According to the League of Women Voters, the threat facing democracy is the top concern of registered voters. Only in solidarity can we overcome this ominous threat. We need to embrace our strengths — transparency, values, honesty, commitment, good work, relevancy, principles, and inclusivity. As Democrats this is our legacy.

As members we seek ways to improve our organization.  Diversity is critical.  Disunity will not serve us well. Let’s commit to a diverse, representative and strong Tompkins County Democratic Committee. As chair of the TCDC I will fight for transparency, honesty, and unity with all my energy. Please join me in this mission.

Our TCDC community must be focused on working together to find solutions to important issues. A respectful and thoughtful dialogue on the issues we face is critically important. TCDC has come together to endorse several candidates; now is the time for us to volunteer to ensure victory on November 8.

The stakes are very high, so get involved in the midterm elections. Don’t sit this one out — take action. We need volunteers to get Democrats elected, whether it is canvassing, phone banking, staffing headquarters —- there are opportunities for you to participate in bringing victory in November.  Sign up by visiting  https://tcdemocrats.org and following the Volunteer Blue Button or email us directly at tcdcvoluteers@gmail.com

Warmly,
Linda
